A major Sydney pool builder has collapsed, leaving clients with unfinished projects and piles of dirt in their backyards. Clients of Scenic Pools, which describes itself as a fibreglass pool company that is about ‘complete transparency’, received emails on May 3 telling them the business was no longer trading and liquidators would be appointed.
The company, which operates in the NSW west and south coasts, has not responded to requests for comment. Rakesh Goel, a father of three from Kellyville in Sydney’s northwest, signed up with the company last year and had a pool built in his back yard in April this year. He said he paid $64,000 all up for the project – 98 per cent of the total price – which was outlined in his contract. He said he felt like the pool company was ‘rushing him to hand over the money’ and that they had no intention of finishing the job. He has now been left with an open two-metre deep pit a metre from his home.
