There’s a whole street of 3D printed houses in Texas
In Texas there is a street called 17th Street East. It is a beautiful busy street with huge houses. But what is most remarkable is that all the houses there have been 3D printed.
The houses are the creation of Logan architecture with 3D printing technology from ICON which used its Vulcan building system. Printing the houses took only five to seven days and 3D printing technology “now provides safer, more resilient homes designed to withstand fire, flood, wind and other natural disasters. better than conventionally built homes, ”ICON said in a statement.
The homes are available in two and four bedroom designs ranging from 900 to 2,000 square feet (83 to 185 square meters). All houses have covered porches, covered parking, large, open rooms, and windows large enough to let in plenty of light.
This is of course not the first 3D printed community in the United States. In March 2021, Mighty Buildings, which specializes in 3D printing houses of various sizes, announced plans to build a $ 15 million community of 3D printed homes in California.
When complete, the upcoming project will carry the title of “the world’s first planned community of 3D printed homes,” according to Mighty Buildings. It might be the first in the world, but it sure won’t be the last.
In 2018, the additive manufacturing industry had a market size of a meager $ 8 billion. However, by 2026, this industry is expected to reach $ 51 billion with its annual growth rate of around 24-26%. Why? Because 3D printing is revolutionizing the construction industry by providing a safer and faster way than ever to build homes. So we’re bound to see more of East 17th Streets.
