BCN3D, one of the leading Spanish manufacturers of 3D printing solutions, announced the launch of the new Smart Cabinet to complement the Epsilon ecosystem, which energizes the entire printing process with the BCN3D workbench 3D printers Epsilon W27 and Epsilon W50.

the BCN3D smart cabinet relies on smart drying technology to ensure filaments are constantly maintained at optimum humidity levels, ensuring the best results in every print job and protecting against print failures and nozzle clogging.

BCN3D aims to provide a reliable 3D printing solution regardless of external factors such as power stability or ambient humidity. The smart cabinet provides such a solution with seamless integration with current BCN3D products, becoming the very first in its class.

With the launch of new products, in addition to recent investments in the company, BCN3D opens a new era in its growth and demonstrates its commitment to provide an innovative and expansive product portfolio, consolidating its position as a major player in printing. 3d.

Its filament moisture control keeps materials in peak condition and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) protects the print job at all times, eliminating the risk of losing a print job due to power outages.

The BCN3D Smart Cabinet operates using the absorption dryer method, alternating between drying cycles and regeneration cycles to maintain a constant dry environment around stored coils and protect them from sudden external changes.

The smart cabinet controls the relative humidity inside the airtight container with a desiccant that absorbs moisture, in this case, alumina-based pellets, which are open to the environment of dehumidification.

By isolating the absorption material from the heating chamber and increasing its temperature, the absorbed moisture is released outside the chamber and the material is regenerated. After purging, the desiccant has been refreshed and is ready to collect more moisture. The airtight container and cyclic internal ventilation through the fan, heater and valves mean no user interaction is required.

This process effectively keeps the filament dry and in optimal condition for its use, and means there is never a need to change the desiccant.

“The smart cabinet draws attention to the important fact that, in order to achieve fine and reproducible parts, it is essential to control the entire printing process, which includes ensuring that the materials are in the correct conditions. optimal. All materials are sensitive to moisture to some extent, but some of them like PA, TPU or BVOH are particularly affected. For example, in humid weather, a spool of PA can absorb the amount of water that causes printing problems to appear in a matter of hours, in less than a day… When customers have trouble printing PA, waste time and money on bad or failing print jobs is not because of the printer, nor because of the profiles, but because of the degradation of the materials. So to really unleash the potential of AM with technical materials, beyond PLA, a solution like the Smart Cabinet is mandatory.

In addition, as 3D printers increase in volume, printing times also increase … so in industrial or laboratory contexts, where power cuts or micro-cuts are quite frequent, the Smart Cabinet offers vital protection to reduce waste and improve efficiency. As a result, any customer aiming both with technical materials will benefit from this new product. It should be noted that in the PA filament, for example, certain mechanical properties improve by 20% with the use of the Smart Cabinet ”, explains Eric Pallarés, CTO BCN3D.
