Autex Acoustics develops customization tools for acoustic panels
Dezeen promotion: Acoustic textile manufacturer Autex Acoustics has developed two creative tools that allow users to customize acoustic panels.
The New Zealand-based brand wanted to give users more choices in the design of acoustic panels.
Autex Acoustics Groove customization tool is designed to cut precise patterns on acoustic panels. The tool allows designers to choose from five different cuts, creating designs with “depth and perspective”.
“Whether it’s molding a panel to fit an irregular surface, or creating a stand-alone object, Groove enables designers to sidestep the constraints of flat panel display processing without compromising performance, ”the brand said.
The Groove customization tool can also be used to transform acoustic panels into 3D shapes. Thanks to its cut, the panels can fold “like an origami”, according to the brand. This allows users to tailor their acoustic panels to their needs.
To offer designers other customization options, Autex Acoustics has also developed its Print customization tool, which allows users to print various patterns on acoustic panels.
This includes printing marble and wood patterns without affecting the acoustic performance of the product.
“Our UV-curable vegetable-based ink has a flexibility of 170%, it will not crack or warp when bent or curved, and is touch dry as soon as it is printed, ensuring colors and lines. crisp, ”explained the brand.
The brand aims to make acoustic panels both attractive and practical.
“Acoustics are often sacrificed in the name of beauty, as finishes such as wood, polished concrete and marble are more desirable – even if the result is a noisy and uncomfortable space,” the brand said.
The Groove and Print customization tools are both designed to solve some of these common audio design issues.
