Shapeways partners with Mimaki to offer full color 3D printed parts
By integrating Mimaki High Definition Full Color into its extensive digital manufacturing offering, Shapeways now provides instant access to quotes for its customers to explore full color 3D printed parts.
Mimaki’s color 3D printing technology works by projecting colored resin directly onto the print bed, with a specific color profile generated by the characterization data. This process can produce parts with “stunning shading, contrast and detail”, as well as “excellence in precision and resolution”. Suitable applications for Mimaki’s color technology include surgical prep models for preview, detailed architectural models for real estate developers, customizable collectibles, and more.
“Shapeways is known for its quality and consistency,” commented Josh Hope, Senior Manager for Digital Imaging and Innovation at Mimaki. “Our expertise in 2D color printing has allowed us to approach the world of 3D printing differently, starting with color. Providing high definition color to Shapeways customers made sense as it can be used in so many ways. “
“The addition of Mimaki color brings tremendous depth and detail to applications across multiple industries,” added Aidan O’Sullivan, vice president of operations at Shapeways. “At Shapeways, we harness world-class printing technologies and apply our vast expertise and rigorous quality procedures to help change the landscape of additive manufacturing.”
Last month, Shapeways announced a merger deal with Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) Galileo Acquisition Corp ahead of its IPO on the New York Stock Exchange.
